An Analytical Framework for Determining the Ecological Risks of Wastewater Discharges in River Networks Under Climate Change

چکیده
Over the last decades, treatment of domestic wastewater promoted by environmental regulations have reduced human health risks and improved water quality. However, ecological caused effluents plants (WWTPs) discharged into rivers still persist. Moreover, evolution these in future is intimately related to effects changing climate, especially regarding streamflow receiving rivers. Here, we present an analytical transferable framework for assessing posed WWTP-effluents at catchment scale. The combines size-class k WWTPs, which a load-proxy, with their outflows' location river networks, represented stream-order ω. We identify using three proxy indicators: urban discharge fraction local-scale concentrations each total phosphorous ammonium-nitrogen from WWTPs. About 3,200 WWTPs over large catchments (Rhine, Elbe, Weser) Central Europe were analyzed incorporating simulated most extreme projected climate change scenario. found that causing prevail lower ω, across almost all k. Distinct patterns are identified k-ω different indicators catchments. show, as changes, intensified expected ω intermediate-k discuss implications our findings prioritizing upgrading urging updates on regulations. Further discussions underline feasibility applying any geographical regions highlight its potentials help achieving global long-term commitments freshwater security.

Prediction of Zarrinehrud River Run-Off in the Climate Change Condition using Artificial Neural Networks
In the present research, the climate change effect on variation of surface runoff of Zarrinehrud located in the Miandoab plain was investigated. In this direction, the scenarios including A1B, A2 and B1 via LARS-WG downscaling model and with applying the HadCM3 general circulation model and artificial neural network model in two different periods (2046-2065, 2080 -2099) were studied. For thi...
متن کاملAnalysis of Streamflow Changes under Climate Change Using Rainfall-Runoff Model in the Kor River Basin
Abstract In this study, the predicted monthly temperature and rainfall data from HadCM3 model (base period, ۱۹۷۲-۲۰۰۱) and next period (۲۰۱۱-۲۰۴۰) under A2emission scenario were used to investigate the impacts of climate change on runoff variations in the Kor river basin. HadCM3 model output was downscaled based on a temporal downscaling approach (Change Factor) and spatial downscaling appro...

Ecological forecasting under climate change: the case of Baltic cod.
Good decision making for fisheries and marine ecosystems requires a capacity to anticipate the consequences of management under different scenarios of climate change. The necessary ecological forecasting calls for ecosystem-based models capable of integrating multiple drivers across trophic levels and properly including uncertainty. The methodology presented here assesses the combined impacts o...
